Colin Millar is a Master Mariner and in his profession, he pilots some of the many vessels entering Halifax Harbour, from giant container ships to cruise ships such as the Queen Mary II, from sailing ships to submarines. It takes three years of intensive training for an experienced Mariner to qualify as a Pilot, gaining expert knowledge of local harbour conditions, and the effects of tides, currents, wind and weather. Join us as Mr. Millar talks about his job, and some of the challenges he has encountered in the course of his work.

Most of us have articles of clothing that are no longer serving us and are taking up space in our closets. You might have pieces that aren’t your perfect fit or are no longer suiting your needs, but they may find new life and new use from another lucky someone! Bring your preloved items of clothing and shoes to our Library Clothing Swap. Please be sure to bring clothing items that are clean and in good condition. Any items that remain afterwards can be taken home but if left at the library will be placed in one of our community donation bins.
