In his presentation, Professor Wayne MacKay will explain how Canada’s constitutional and public law has been changed since the Charter of Rights arrived in Canada in April of 1982. The Charter revolutionized the practice of law and, in many ways Canadian society as a whole. As a result, the courts have become major players in vital issues such as abortion, the right to life, the right to die with dignity, and access to health care.
Wayne MacKay is a nationally recognized teacher and scholar, as well as a recognized author in the areas of Constitutional Law, the Charter of Rights, Human Rights, Privacy Law and Educational Law. Although now retired, Professor MacKay keeps active as a media commentator including a regular CBC radio slot.
