Enjoy the outdoors, connect with others, and explore the Rails to Trails as we head out for a weekly run. Runners will meet up on the lawn next to the parking lot of the Library before heading off to the trail.

Together, we will read stories, sing songs and nursery rhymes, and explore fun movement activities that build early literacy and motor skills. Dress for a mess as we may also enjoy some messy sensory play and art.

Enjoy the autumn weather with us.

Once a month, we’ll take a walk on the local trail while we practice some steps and exercises that help promote stability and balance. All levels of physical ability welcome.

Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable footwear.

Drop in for a movie night every Tuesday at J. D. Shatford Memorial Public Library. With fresh popcorn offered and closed captions provided, you’re sure to enjoy a night out with friends.

Local archivists from Halifax Municipal Archives will be available in person to answer your questions and give you tips to care for your own archives.

For this outreach performance, Debut Atlantic will be presenting pianist Jonathan Mak, a renowned Canadian musician known for his expressive performances and engaging approach to classical music.

Through a dynamic live presentation, Jonathan introduces young audiences to the artistry, storytelling, and emotion behind piano repertoire, creating an opportunity for young audiences to experience the power of music while exploring creativity, history, and imagination.

Creative teens will enjoy this 4-week sequential program exploring needle felting techniques.

Participants will have the opportunity to create felted creatures, decorative ornaments, and/or beautiful pictures by following guided tutorials. Any skill level is welcome to participate, whether you want to learn a new craft, build upon your experience, or share your own expertise in the art of needle felting.

Please note, using the sharp felting needles requires a good level of patience and manual dexterity.

$7 per session
